Hi All. I have enjoyed my vacation a lot but was eager to come back to see what had happeend in the UC matches and in the various domestic leagues. Still not all have started yet again, but more and more come to life again. With in the big leagues Barca appearing vulnarable (though with a huge gap still with Real), ManUtd seeming unbeatable still and Inter also cruising for the title. And Lyon is going for another title, while in Germany it is still a great and fantastic fight. In Portugal the top 3 is on top, so nothing new, but in Holland, though a bit struggling, AZ(very probable leaguewinner) and Twente keep being ahead of the also struggling Ajax and PSV. In Turkey we see also not top-3 faces on the top with Sivasspor and Trabzonspor.
This week more European matches to come: first CL and then elimination time in UC. Can we expect surprises? Aalborg, Metalist and Twente, (St Etienne ?) have done a great first leg preparing for such a surprise, bu... Read more »
Still only part of the leagues play, with in England even a cupweekend. But still some updates were included. If not only to give Partizan their rightfull coefficient. ...
Finally some new updates available. After adding a new file with 53 tabs on it - 1 for each country I had to update all used names - I can't follow Soccerway anymore, but maybe I use differnt languages or so, I don't know. I hope they are stable now...
Though part of Europe is still in a wintersleep, a part also continues. In England we see ManUtd rising to the top. In Holland AZ keeps doing great, while PSV has shown that there will be a nw champion after 4 years of PSV. Can Ajax threaten AZ. Even withtout Huntelaar. Suarez might be the next to leave Amsterdam. If that happens AZ will cheer, for sure.
I have been working on the update of all sheets but run into some serious trouble with Soccerway. As I download all my standings from there any change there is resulting in an update needed on my side. They did some serios re-arranging. So I had to do that too. It seems to be working again, only I noticed I have some troubles now with the team names again - I have to go thourgh all teamnames again. So I'm afraid I need a bit more time still..... Sorry..
I am on vacation and though I have my stuffwith me, I forgot I lately upgraded all to Excel 2007, which is not compataible with the versions I have here. Downgrading the sheets has not helped unfortunatley. Updates will be available again in Januari.
And so the last groupstage match in UC -old style has finished, we have seen some surprises, of which the main is Sevilla's elimination. I would say. Looking at Holland I am pleasently surprised that 3 teams made it, I wouldn't have thought that 2 months ago...
Looking at the changes that happened due to this last round in the expected countryranking '09 we see a little setback for England and Spain (despite Sevilla's elimination), Germany rising and FRance falling. More important we see them falling to just above Russia now - the battle for 5th spot seems to be back! Also Ukraine with Metalist ending on 1st spot has climbed closer to Portugal, Is also this 9th spot still under pressure? with a good draw, it can change, but for Shakthar and Dinamo Kiew it probably is a hard draw, as nr2 from the UC group are mostly big names: Milan, Valencia, Tottenham...
Sorry all for not updating last week. Too much to do and on my spare night I had not internet.
Well I updated all domestic leagues, as far as they are still running in the winter. Also the CL-GS has finished. Not much surprises has happened anymore there. I wonder if this weeks UC last MD will bring more (I hope NEC will qualify). Ukraine did very well and has a risen expectation. Fortunately for Portugal also they have risen, so they stay ahead of Ukraine avoiding the battle for the 6th European spot.
Matchday 4 of the Uefacup has been entered. In the predicted-countryranking'09 graph you can see that this was a good week for France! And a bit less for Russia. 5ht place run seems decided. Becasue of Braga's qualification also Portugal seems to hold on to the 9th spot.
It is starting to get clear who will still play in spring.
